Lineshaft Conveyors
Line Shaft Conveyors from CMS
Line shaft conveyors, also known as lineshaft roller conveyors, are designed to efficiently transport products such as boxes and tote items. They utilize a unique drive mechanism that allows for smooth operation and versatility in various material handling applications.
Key Features
- Power Mechanism: The system consists of a single drive shaft located under the roller bed. This shaft is connected to each roller via elastic polyurethane o-ring belts, which transmit the rotational force from the motor to the rollers, enabling them to move products along the conveyor.
- Accumulation Functionality: One of the significant advantages of lineshaft conveyors is their ability to accumulate products without causing damage. The spools on the drive shaft slip when back pressure occurs (e.g., when items accumulate), allowing rollers to stop without affecting adjacent rollers. This feature is particularly beneficial for sorting and managing product flow.
- Safety and Maintenance: Lineshaft conveyors are designed with safety in mind. The elastic belts can stretch, reducing the risk of injury if fingers or clothing get caught. Additionally, their simple design results in lower maintenance needs compared to other conveyor types.
Specifications
- Load Capacity: Suitable for light applications, these conveyors can handle loads up to approximately 50 kg, making them ideal for transporting cardboard boxes and tote boxes.
- Roller Configuration: The rollers can be spaced closely together (as little as 18.5 mm apart) and can be as small as 17 mm in diameter. However, products must span at least three rollers for effective transport.
- Modular Design: Lineshaft conveyors are highly modular, allowing for easy configuration into straight sections, curves, merges, and transfers. This flexibility makes them adaptable to changing operational needs.
Applications
- Warehouse Environments: For efficient sorting and transporting of goods.
- Packing Lines: To facilitate the movement of products during packaging processes.
- Light Manufacturing: For handling light materials that require gentle movement without damage.
Lineshaft Conveyor Straight
A line shaft-powered roller conveyor moves materials using rollers that are driven by a motor.
Beneath the rollers, a rotating drive shaft is connected to each roller using urethane belts. As the motor turns the drive shaft, the belts transfer this motion to the rollers above, allowing items to accumulate and move along the conveyor.

Line Shaft Drive Stations
Line shaft drive stations are a pivotal component in modern conveyor systems, providing an efficient and cost-effective method for powering multiple modules within industrial settings.
This technology utilises a single rotating shaft to transmit power to various rollers through a system of belts and friction spools, allowing for streamlined operations in warehouses and manufacturing environments.
